We founded The Marais Foundation because we understood how difficult it is to create art when we are worried about rent, not being able to afford a canvas, or needing a piece of software. We also saw how hard it is for artists who are not established to get access to grant dollars. We saw an opportunity to help artists support themselves and give themselves the space to create.

As part of our commitment to supporting artists, we like to highlight the work of those artists we have helped fund and promote their work. We are currently accepting applications for new, emerging, and striving artists to be awarded micro-grants, and we welcome everyone to apply

We are currently reviewing dozens of applications from artists ranging from photographers to painters, dance groups to poets. We believe all art is worthy and that every artist has a unique voice that needs to be heard.

Current Grant Award Winners

In the winter of 2023, The Marais Foundation awarded its first micro-grant to support a new digital magazine to help support poetry in the Pacific Northwest. Poet Land used their grant from The Marais Foundation to help design and launch their website and begin the initial promotion of their brand. Working with The Maris Foundation, Poet Land intends to become the voice of new poetry and to publish an annual anthology of poetry from the PNW that reflects the unique ethos and provides new voices to find and build their community.
